Certified Aromatherapist Level 1 Outline

  • Introduction to the history of aromatherapy & ancient Egyptian aromatic history

  • How to create/design an effective blend
  • Diluents such as vegetable oils and other carrier bases

Required elements for Level 1 student graduation based upon approved standards in aromatherapy education

 1.1 Students must complete a minimum of 10 case studies.

 1.2 Students must complete a 3- 5 pages research paper 

 1.3 Students must sit for and pass a Level 1 examination offered by the school.

1.4 Graduates must submit proof of completion of 5 NAHA approved continuing education hours


Clinical Aromatherapist Level 2 Outline

  • Ancient Egyptian aromatic history & history of aromatherapy
  • Profiles of 40 essential oils
  • Quality of essential oils
  • Production and methods of extraction (distillation, cold pressing/expression, enfleurage, absolute, CO2 extraction)
  • Botany (specifically taxonomy)
  • Essential oil chemistry
  • Properties of essential oils within a holistic and professional framework
  • Blending techniques
  • Diluents such as vegetable oils and other carrier bases
  • Methods of application (inhalation, diffusion, topical, optional: internal)
  • Safety issues (including dermal, respiratory and internal use)
  • Consultation and client education program design
  • Anatomy & Physiology 2 ,The Reproductive System; The Cardiovascular System; The Lymphatic System & The Immune System; The Urinary System; The Digestive System, The Respiratory System, The Skeletal System, The Integumentary System, The Nervous System and The Endocrine system.
  • The basics of business development
  • Legal, ethical, privacy issues includes a copy of the NAHA Code of Ethics

Required elements for Level 2 student graduation based upon approved standards in aromatherapy education

2.1 Students must complete a 5-10 page research paper (pertaining to an aromatherapy topic).

2.2 Students must complete a minimum of 10 case studies in addition to the required Level 1 case studies for a total minimum of 20

 2.3 Students must study a minimum of 20 essential oil profiles in addition to required Level I essential oils for a total minimum of 40.

2.4 Students must sit for and pass a Level 2 examination offered by the school.

 2.5 Graduates must submit proof of completion of 10 NAHA approved continuing education hours (CEs) per year

Carrier oils: Coconut Oil, Almond Oil, Jojoba Oil, Rosehip Seed Oil, Apricot Oil, Olive Oil

Hydrosols: (Rose, Chamomile, Lavender, Neroli)

Herbs: ( Calendula, Yarrow, Chamomile)

Butters: ( Cocoa, Mango, Shea butter ).

+ When I take your course, will I be able to call myself a Certified Aromatherapist?

Yes, from a NAHA approved school, for the certification issued from NAHA you will need to present your certification to NAHA & apply for membership  https://naha.org/membership/become-a-member/ once you complete the Level 1 Aromatherapy Certification Program you can call yourself a Certified Level 1 Aromatherapist or Aromatherapy Practitioner. Your certificate will show the designated hours for that course.

Level 1 is 75 hours online.

Level 2 is 250 hours online
